Carphanidae from Binda & Kristensen 1986: “Unplated Heterotardigrada with body eutardigrade-like in shape. Primary and secondary clavae absent. External and internal buccal cirri close to the terminal mouth opening; lateral cirri (A) short; all cirri without cirrophorus. Gonopore and anus perhaps not separated. Two claws on the legs I-III and one claw on the legs IV; all claws are flexible and have two basal spurs.”
